STart CAMP — offers three projects each week and is designed to engage CAMPers entering grades K-5. In this program, CAMPers rotate in small groups to each of the three multi-medium art projects every day and Body Movement & Games, all five days of the CAMP week. This is a structured environment that offers developmentally appropriate challenges and levels of materials usage for young makers and artists, and is well-suited to the creative needs of these ages. With a 1:5 staff to CAMPer ratio, your child will have plenty of support to complete projects.

CARDBOARD CITY! Create the best place you can imagine, using cardboard, paper tape and an assortment of recyclable materials. Design a restaurant, school, playground, tower, railroad station - possibilities unlimited. We will draw our ideas, build them, decorate and arrange them as we choose. Build a Circus - Have you ever dreamed of joining the circus? In Build a Circus Week, campers use their imagination to create a circus of their own. Using crafts, recycled materials, theatre games and a little clown magic; we will transform our camp tent into our own little big top. Teaching Artist: Douglas McNeely

Underwater World - Let’s have fun creating a place where fish, octopi, jellyfish, and sea creatures never seen before populate a beautiful and mysterious watery world - using materials such as tissue paper, cardboard, construction paper, bubblewrap, etc. Teaching Artist: Marti Cate

Insectopedia - Using a variety of every-day materials and our endless imaginations, we will build new universes such as Insect-Opia, where campers create spiders, ladybugs, butterflies, and all-things-Insect as well as the amazing environment that they inhabit. And what other worlds might we manifest? Teaching Artist: Marti Cate

Puppet Making - There are so many ways to make puppets -from a simple sock all the way to a complex marionette. We’ll look at all the ways and then create our own puppets with fabric, wood and just about anything else we can get our hands on. We’ll use our characters to create a simple play at the end of the week. Artist: Taylor Gersbach

Comics - Come join us in an exploration of comics creation with an emphasis on experimentation. We will be creating our own comics using a variety of techniques including collage, painting, xerox, tracing, photo techniques and more. At the end everyone will walk away with their own unique comic. Teaching Artist: Joel Skavdahl

Origami - In this class we will learn the basic folds of Origami and throughout the week will begin to advance our knowledge and folding skills to create models such as animals, geometric shapes, modulars, flowers, and even mythological creatures! Teaching Artist: Jennifer Linderman

Magic & Fantastic Art - It's time to summon your artistic wizardry and perform some creative magic through art. Students will be exploring different mediums and creating fantastical artwork such as Dreamscape Collages, Watercolor Magic, 3D Fantasy Creatures, and even making their own Magic Wands. Teaching Artist: Eileen Plichta

Mixed Media Madness - CAMPers learn that art can be just like a potion- with all the different types of mediums! We will explore the multitude of materials out there to create a mixed pot of art. From decopague and collage, to sculptural paints and... cake? You bet! Artist: April Gavin

Animals and Botanicals - In this class we will learn how to draw animals and botanic elements found in nature such as plants, trees, flowers, etc and have fun fusing these two subjects together to create our “Botanimals”! We will use a variety of mixed media such as watercolor, ink pens, markers, colored pencil, stamps, and basically anything we want to help bring our creations alive! Teaching Artist: Jennifer Linderman

It’s a Small World, After All! - In this class we will be utilizing found objects, paint and sculpey to create colorful miniature worlds fueled by our imaginations. Each day we will be conceptualizing and creating elements that will culminate in a small diorama that each camper can take home. Teaching Artist: Joel Skavdahl

Cute Kawaii Creations -Learn to draw adorable Kawaii animals & characters, then make them into playful creations with paper, felt, fabric and wood. Students will create Teacup Pets Drawing/Collage, Adorable Awards Badges, Draw-Then-Sew Cute Kawaii Stuffies, and so much more. Teaching Artist: Eileen Plichta

Painting to Music -CAMPers get to explore methods of art making, music making, and the world where they overlap. Students will use music as their inspiration in two-dimensional medium, and will use art techniques in order to produce something that ends up musical. This involves creating in response to music; through collage, painting and drawing as result of movement and emotion. In turn, we will write and move to music to create art, and even make music! Teaching Artist: Taylor Gersbach
